Stray Bulgarian Dog Undergoes Transformation After Rescue
Diane and Tony Rowles have seen everything. After leaving their home in the U.K. in the mid-2000s and making a new home in Rudozem, Bulgaria, the husband and wife came across the many stray dogs living in the local streets — and often mistreated by their neighbors. When they learned that the nearby shelters were just as bad, the couple started the ‘Rudozem Street Dog Rescue’ to help their furry friends. But after many years of saving stray dogs, the Rowles found one dog that seemed impossible to save.
The dog wasn’t difficult to locate on the streets, given her terrible condition. But when the Rowles found her, it was clear just how desperate she was.
The Rowles picked her up and took her to the vet.
The dog was in awful condition, both emotionally and physically.
Nonetheless, she turned out to be quite the fighter.
For this reason, the rescue team chose to name her Khaleesi, after the Game of Thrones character.
They gave Khaleesi her first-ever bath after she had some time to recover.
Despite her fears, she soon became more comfortable around the rescue team.
She began to show evidence that her condition was improving.
Throughout her weeks of recovery, she remained calm and sweet.
When she started to explore her new surroundings, her personality really started to shine through.
Throughout it all, she continued to visit the vet for consultations on her recovery.
She needed to have a cast to assist in the healing of one of her legs.
She was getting the greatest possible care, and appeared to know that she was bound to get well soon.
Eventually, her fur began to grow back!
Finally, her renewal started to really show itself.
Her caretakers were truly happy to see her get better.
So much work had been put into helping her, and it was all worth it.
Her transformation was astounding to behold…
Khaleesi felt the love, and she was giving affection back.
She’s so sweet!
It’s incredible to think that she’s even the same stray dog that they found wandering the streets.
Whereas she had once been so close to losing her life, now she was prepared to live her life full of happiness.
